Coach D'Morris Smith is a prominent figure in the Mexia, Texas sports community, known primarily for his work in youth track and field and speed development.

  • Founder & Head Coach: He leads Prime Elite Speed Development, a specialized program based in Mexia that focuses on improving athletic performance and speed for youth athletes.

  • Collegiate Coaching: He served as an Assistant Track and Field Coach at Nelson University (formerly SAGU) in Waxahachie, Texas, where he coached sprinters who competed at the NAIA National level for both indoor and outdoor track and field. He was the first coach in SAGU'S history to qualify athletes for the Texas Relays in Austin, TX. He trained multiple athletes who broke school records and received a conference championship ring.

  • Athletic Background: A Mexia, TX native, Coach Smith is a member of the Mexia/Palestine High School Class of 2004. In 2003, he set the Mexia High School 100m dash record at 10.18 seconds. He received a full scholarship to Northwestern State University in Louisiana and completed his education at Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. His deep roots in the community have allowed him to mentor local athletes, many of whom have gone on to compete at the state level in UIL and summer track circuits.
